  • Goriška Brda Show on map
Our stay at Peterc Vineyard Estate in Slovenia's Brda region felt like being welcomed right into a friend’s very luxurious home. The boutique B&B perches above a 200‑year‑old vineyard, with vine rows tumbling all the way down to the Adriatic Sea. The superior room we had was bright, beautifully furnished and opened up to a private terrace overlooking green vines and distant sea. But the main focus here is not the accommodations, but the wine... With leisurely tastings of crisp Rebula in their charming cellar, and sipping a sparkling Rebula Extra Brut by the pool. The hotel also have a unique “adopt-a-vine” experience - where you receive a bottle from your own vine plot! A beautiful personal touch from the amazing hosts Milena and Uroš that in general went above and beyond to make our days here truly memorable. Read more

Wine paradise Glavinič is an organic farm resort in the heart of Prlekija, where wine, food and countryside life are all woven together. This is not just a place to sleep among the vines - it is a proper vineyard escape, with the family’s own premium wines, tastings, organic production and a setting that makes the whole region feel wonderfully close-up. The stay itself has more range than you might expect... Guests can choose between 9 rooms, 5 traditional cottages and a villa house, all spread across the estate, while the rest of the property adds a natural pool, mini wellness area, sports facilities and enough open space to make the day slow down almost immediately. A detail we really like: much of the produce served here comes straight from the farm’s own garden and orchard, with the rest sourced from nearby local growers, so the food feels just as rooted in place as the wine. Guests staying here can also enjoy biking tours through the hills, visit nearby wine cellars, and join in seasonal grape harvests - and come back in the evening for wine by the fireplace or dinner at the estate’s restaurant. This is the kind of place that makes Slovenian wine country feel deeply generous, quietly beautiful and very easy to fall for. Read more

Slovenia has a real talent for hiding its best wine stays in ridiculously pretty places, and Hiša Marija House is a perfect example. Set in the Jeruzalem–Ormož Hills, where vineyards roll off in every direction, this boutique guesthouse is part of the organic Glavinič Wine Paradise estate. The house has 9 themed rooms, all looking out over the landscape park, which already makes waking up here feel like a good life choice... The estate's own wines, organic farm environment and all the surrounding facilities - which include a pool, sauna, gym - provide plenty of excuses to stay longer than planned. And then there is the mood: vineyard terrace, stylish rooms, proper breakfasts, and that lovely sense that everything moves a little slower here. In other words, this is the sort of address that makes you open one bottle and immediately understand why Slovenian wine country deserves far more attention than it gets. Read more

  • Goriška Brda Show on map
Orange wine lovers, this one has your name on it. KABAJ Wine & Dine sits in Goriška Brda, Slovenia’s rolling borderland of vines, and does something many winery stays only promise: it makes the wine the main event from the first sip to the last course. The Kabaj Morel estate has been named among the top 100 wineries in the world four times by Wine & Spirits, and its most distinctive bottle, Amfora, is made in qvevri, the buried clay vessels used in Georgia, the cradle of viticulture... The stay itself is intimate, with six big, sunny double rooms, while the restaurant leans into old Brda recipes touched by Mediterranean, Friulian and Habsburg influences. Guided cellar tours can be arranged, and the whole place carries the confidence of somewhere that knows exactly what it is doing. Read more

  • Pomurje Show on map
Where the old Pannonian Sea once met the first Alpine slopes, VINEA PANONIKA has created the kind of wine stay that is less about grand gestures and more about quiet seduction. Set in the hills above Radenci, this retreat wraps local wine, thoughtful food and countryside calm into one very easy-to-love address. The concept is simple but strong: good wine, good company and enough space to actually switch off... Guests can sleep in lovely mobile homes set a little apart from the main house - which gives the whole place a more private, tucked-away feeling than a standard hotel setup. Wine remains the thread running through everything, from the tastings and wine shop to the local gastronomy and the estate’s broader focus on authentic regional produce, including its own apple juice. What makes it stand out is the sense of region. This is Pomurje, one of Slovenia’s most underrated wine landscapes, and Vinea Panonika leans into that local character beautifully rather than trying to imitate a bigger, flashier wine resort. Open by prior appointment only, it feels more like a carefully kept secret than a polished tourism machine - exactly the sort of place that makes a wine trip memorable. Read more

Some wine stays sell you a room. Herga Wine Estate sells you a point of view. Set in Jeruzalem Slovenia, among some of the country’s most photogenic vineyard hills, this 19th-century estate mixes historic charm with a fresher, more personal energy. The rooms above the old wine cellar are made for slow mornings with vineyard views, while the larger Villa Old Lady gives groups a more spacious way into the same landscape. What really gives Herga its edge is the wine experience... Tastings are hosted by Lenart, a former sommelier at a two-Michelin-star Slovenian restaurant, while the wines themselves are shaped by Mitja Herga, who brings more than 35 harvests of experience in Slovenia and abroad. That combination makes the whole place feel less like a hotel with a cellar and more like being invited into a very good wine conversation. Read more

In Goriška Brda – often called the “Tuscany of Slovenia” – Posestvo Ščurek stands out as one of the region’s most respected family wineries. For five generations, the Ščurek family has been crafting wines that balance tradition with innovation, producing everything from elegant Rebula to complex blends that age beautifully. A visit here is all about immersion... Tastings are personal and generous, often guided by family members who share not just the wines but the stories behind them. The cellars reveal both oak barrels and modern techniques, showing how the estate bridges past and present. The vineyards themselves, spread across sun-drenched hills on the border with Italy, provide breathtaking views and grapes of exceptional quality. Read more

Not every wine escape needs a grand cellar and a formal tasting script. Wine Resort Mak takes a more playful route. Just 3 km from central Maribor on the Maribor Wine Road, it offers a private one-bedroom resort-style stay with a heated outdoor seawater pool, a heated wine jacuzzi available year-round, and vineyard views that already make a compelling case for not leaving the terrace. There is even a deer enclosure, so your evening glass can come with actual red deer in the background... The appeal here is less old-world winery romance and more modern wine-country escapism. Bike rentals are available, the setting is green and quiet, and the whole thing feels built for couples who want Maribor close by but not too close. In other words: a very good option when you want your wine weekend with a little novelty and a hot tub involved. Read more

Šibav Wine&Tourism B&B offers a wonderful farm stay near Dobrovo Castlen in Brda. It's set right among the family’s vineyards and run with the sort of warmth guests remember just as vividly as the wine. A detail we especially like: breakfast has included things like Merlot juice, acacia honey, home-cured cold cuts, farm eggs and tomatoes, which tells you a lot about the place before you even get to the first tasting... Add a pool overlooking the vines and rooms with minibars stocked with the owner’s wine, and this becomes a wonderfully grounded way to experience Slovenian wine country. Read more

  • Metlika Show on map
The small town of Metlika, in Slovenia’s Bela Krajina wine region, is famous for its rich red Metliška Črnina, a blend that has been cherished for generations. This is where wine is part of daily life, and staying at Vineyard Cottage Brodarič lets you experience that tradition up close. Set right among the vines, this charming cottage gives you the rare chance to live like a winemaker for a few days... The Brodarič family produces their own wines here, and guests are invited to taste them directly in the cellar-from crisp whites to the region’s signature reds - while learning about the history and craft behind each bottle. Waking up with the rows of vines just outside your window and sipping wine made steps from where you’re staying - it doesn’t get more genuine than this. Read more

  • Vipava Valley Show on map
Vipava Valley is one of Slovenia’s most exciting wine regions, shaped by a mix of Mediterranean and continental influences that gives its wines unusual freshness and character. That is the setting for BRIC Wine & Relax, where a 400-year family tradition meets a much newer, more design-led kind of vineyard stay... The estate grows 36 hectares of organically farmed vineyards in one continuous stretch, and the grapes are processed within an hour of harvest - the sort of detail wine lovers always like to hear. There are six superior rooms with balconies looking out over the vines and hills, plus a seasonal outdoor pool, an indoor glazed pool and private Finnish/bio or infrared saunas for post-tasting recovery. We also love the warm welcome from the owners, the homemade breakfasts and the fact that so much of what you eat and drink comes straight from the farm itself. What gives BRIC its extra pull is how naturally the wine is woven into everything. Tastings happen in the cellar, the food leans local and homemade, and the whole place is run by a younger generation of the family, which keeps the atmosphere rooted but fresh. Doesn't that sound pretty irresistible? Read more

  • Podravje Show on map
Did you know Podravje is one of Slovenia’s most beautiful wine landscapes, with steep vineyard slopes, crisp white wines and a reputation that stretches far beyond its size? That is the world around Hiša Pep's, a small wine stay in Svetinje where the hills do much of the talking. The house is known for its local wines, beautiful vineyard views and terrace gatherings, and the whole setting feels deeply tied to Prlekija, one of the country’s most quietly rewarding wine regions... What makes it especially easy to like is that the place has an actual family story behind it. The roots go back to 1929, when grandfather Pepek was born and the house in Svetinje was built. He later planted a vineyard and began producing wine here, and today that story continues through premium tastings, local products and a guesthouse with 9 double rooms in a peaceful vineyard setting. Guests are invited to stay in the stylishly renovated rooms and enjoy home made breakfasts, while the region around you offers one of the prettiest introductions to Slovenian wine country. Book this one if you want South Styrian vineyard calm, family-rooted hospitality and a stay that feels genuinely connected to the landscape outside your window. Read more

  • Tomaj Show on map
Karst wine country has a very different personality from the softer vineyard hills of Slovenia’s east, and Škerlj Wine Estate captures that beautifully. Set in Tomaj, on Tabor Hill, this is the land of terra rossa - the red soil locally called jerovica - which the estate itself says is why some of the finest Teran is found here... The property combines country-house accommodation with a pool with a view, garden, terrace and outdoor fire features, all close to Trieste and the wider Karst landscape. It feels elegant, but not overdesigned. More importantly, it feels tied to its terrain, which is exactly what you want from a wine stay in this corner of the world. Read more

Some stays are all about getting away from it all. Vila Vilma Vineyard Cottage is more about getting right into it - in this case, the vineyards of Lendava, in Slovenia’s far northeast. The cottage is a full private house rather than a standard room, with two bedrooms, a kitchen, terrace, garden and even a hot tub, which makes it a very convincing setup for couples, families or friends who want their wine weekend with a bit more elbow room... We would describe it as a “small paradise on the vineyard”. Exactly the kind of place where the view does half the work and the rest is handled by thoughtful details, quiet surroundings and the novelty of waking up right on a vineyard. Read more

  • Vipava Valley Show on map
Vipava Valley already has a bit of an insider reputation among wine lovers, and Posestvo Rouna slots right into that mood. This is a newly built stay on a working winery estate near Vipava, with modern apartments looking out over the vines and a wine experience equally as good as the views. The building itself dates from 2023, so the whole place reads more crisp and contemporary than rustic or nostalgic... What we like most is that it sounds very straightforward in the best way: beautiful winery, spacious apartments, proper tasting, and enough distance from the crowds to make the valley feel genuinely peaceful. In a region known for serious white wines, bora winds and a slightly under-the-radar charm, that is a strong formula. Read more

That is how the property describes itself, and it makes sense: this historic house in the upper Vipava Valley is surrounded by vineyards and orchards in a region where Alpine, Mediterranean and Karst influences all collide. That helps explain why the food and wine culture here is so unusually good. What makes Majerija stand out is that it feels more like a beautifully run food-and-wine address than a standard hotel... There is something very satisfying about a wine estate that does not stop at rooms and tastings, but throws in a campsite, a pool, an outdoor gym and a restaurant doing six-course menus if you ask nicely. Saxida Wine Estate, in Zalošče in the heart of the Vipava Valley, has exactly that kind of range. The family farm says its superb vineyard positions are the foundation of the wines, and the wider estate turns that into a full countryside escape... The result is more playful than many wine stays. You can do vineyard views and local wines, yes, but also camp among the vines, lounge by the pool or settle in for a serious meal where tradition meets modern touches. In the Vipava Valley, even the winds seem to have opinions about wine. Farm Stay Malovščevo leans fully into that regional identity, with the estate’s Garbari wines described as having captured “the sun and the Vipava winds.” The property is in Vitovlje, where a sunny location, Mediterranean influence and quality soils help shape fruity wines with vivid colour, and where even the local wood matters - their reds also mature in barrels made from nearby oak and acacia... What makes the stay memorable is how complete the farm picture sounds: home-produced food and wine, kind hosts, comfortable rooms and the option to arrange cellar visits and tastings with food. It is the sort of place that reminds you wine travel is often best when it still feels tied to the people who actually grow and pour it. Read more
