    Our stay at Quinta da Casa Amarela was one of those rare moments when everything aligns. Views that take your breath away, quiet hospitality, and wine that whispers "linger a little longer." Set in the heart of the Douro Valley, this family-owned estate has recently been transformed into an elegant guesthouse - all surrounded by its own vineyards dating back to 1885! With just four beautifully designed suites plus a charming standalone unit, the place is intimate yet full of attention to details... Our room opened to vineyard panoramas, and the rooftop pool was a highlight. Breakfasts were a delight as well, tables set with fresh pastries and local flavours, and André - the host - made everything easy. From arranging dinners to guiding us through a private wine tasting. In summary; this is easily one of our favourite wine hotels in Portugal! Read more

    We’d had our eye on Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta for some time, and staying there turned out to be one of the most memorable wine stays we’ve had. Set high above the Douro River, this former working farm has been transformed into a thoughtfully restored estate where nature, wine, and heritage all come together beautifully. The rooms and suites are spread across old farm buildings - simple, tasteful, and full of character, with views that stretch out over terraced vineyards and olive groves... Everything feels calm and unhurried, whether you’re walking along the estate’s trails, enjoying a picnic with a bottle of Ventozelo’s own wines, or just sitting on the terrace watching the light change across the valley. The food is another highlight: local, seasonal dishes served at the on-site restaurant with wines that rarely travel far from where they’re made. A place to slow down and experience the Douro Valley at its very best. Read more

Set above the river, the guest house looks straight out over the terraced vineyards, and it’s hard not to pause for a moment before even checking in. What really makes the place stand out, though, is the atmosphere. It’s family-run, and you feel it right away - dinners are shared around a long table, with hearty food and the estate’s own wines flowing generously... Conversations stretch late into the night, and you get the sense you’re part of the house rather than just passing through. During our stay, mornings started with quiet views over the valley, afternoons with walks through the vines, and evenings gathered with other guests over another bottle.     Ever since we first discovered the Douro Valley, we’ve been enchanted by its terraced vineyards and timeless wine culture. And staying at Quinta do Vallado Wine Hotel only deepened that love. It's one of the oldest quintas in the region, dating back to 1716! We stayed in the sleek, modern wing, where glass walls opened straight onto the vines - truly fantastic. However, rooms in the historic manor house are equally charming, filled with character... Days were spent wandering through the estate, tasting Vallado’s famous ports and bold Douro reds right where they’re made, and soaking in the infinity pool with the valley stretching endlessly below. What struck us most was how seamlessly the hotel blends history, winemaking, and hospitality. We really encourage you to go here to discover it with your own eyes! Read more
