  • Midi-Pyrénées (Puylaurens) Show on map
Spending a few days at Cap de Castel was one of our highlights during a road trip in France. Set in the medieval village of Puylaurens, this 17th-century stone mansion looks out over vineyards, sunflower fields, and the distant Pyrenees. The views alone are worth the trip, but the atmosphere is what makes it unforgettable... Our room blended rustic charm with just the right amount of modern comfort, and mornings started with homemade breakfasts on the terrace while the countryside slowly came to life. Afternoons were for lounging by the pool, exploring nearby Gaillac wineries, or wandering through quiet village streets that haven’t changed in centuries. Dinner at the hotel’s restaurant was another highlight. With seasonal dishes, beautifully prepared, and paired with wines that reminded us just how good this region can be. Read more

If you're anything like us and absolutely love a great wine hotel getaway - then you'll definitely adore the Château de Mercuès. A 13th‑century stronghold turned Relais & Châteaux haven, located deep in the Lot Valley. Set across 30 rooms and suites - each echoing a historical era, with stone walls, exposed beams or ornate fabrics - it has the perfect mix of classic elegance and modern comforts... But the real magic happens underground: walk down a sloping corridor to the 35 hectares of Malbec-led vineyards and concrete‑vaulted cellars. Lined with wines aging six metres beneath the castle. Between spa dips in the castle’s 1960s outdoor pool, vineyard strolls, wine‑room tastings and meticulous staff that go over and beyond - this feels more like being part of a living wine legacy than simply staying in a hotel. We had the pleasure of staying few days at Château la Gineste and it quickly became clear this isn’t your typical wine estate. The vineyards here are organic, the Malbec and Merlot grown with real attention to the land rather than for show. Tastings take you from the vines to the cellars, offering generous pours and straight-up conversations about the wine-no pretension, just people who know their craft. The château itself has an easy elegance... Spacious rooms with period details, long breakfasts, and a lovely pool for when the sun gets too much. And not to mention the terraces - perfect for opening whatever bottle you picked up earlier. It’s quiet, comfortable, and unpolished in the best way. If you want a place where the wine is as good as the setting, Château la Gineste is definitely worth the trip. Read more

Welcome to the incredible Château de Fontanges where you will be able to enjoy a fantastic location, outstanding hospitality, and lastly - stunning vineyards! This is truly a place where you feel that the staff goes above and beyond for each of everyone of the guests, with so much attention to details... The different accommodations are also amazing and we stayed in one of the rooms that had a private pool right by our terrace! It really exceeded our high expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed our week here! Read more
