What’s it like to stay at one of South Africa’s best wine hotels? That question was answered when we checked in at Steenberg Hotel & Spa, located 20 km outside Cape Town. Our weekend began with a tour of the historic estate - the oldest working farm in the country - where we sampled their acclaimed Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc in the contemporary cellar... Back at the hotel, the rooms felt like a private retreat, with soft linens, elegant décor, and views over the vineyard and False Bay in the distance. Afternoons were made for unwinding in the spa’s eucalyptus steam room and vitality pool, followed by sundowners at the vineyard’s edge.
