A stay at
Villa Svetoni Wine Resort is the kind of Tuscan fantasy that actually delivers. Set in the hills of Montepulciano, surrounded by Sangiovese vineyards, the estate has been producing wine since 1865. Today it folds that history into a small, elegant resort with just twelve rooms, a spa, pool, winery and its own restaurant. The whole place is built around the idea that wine should not just be tasted here - it should shape the entire stay.
What makes it especially tempting is the range of experiences. Guests can tour the cellar, taste the estate’s wines and olive oil, and get a proper introduction to the terroir of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano before heading back to rooms that open onto gardens, vines and that soft golden Tuscan light. There is even a Michelin-starred restaurant, Osmosi, which gives the whole resort a little more depth than the usual wine-country formula.
The villa itself began life in the late 1700s as a Leopoldina, the distinctive rural architecture once promoted in Tuscany under Grand Duke Leopold. So the resort carries a bit of local history in its walls as well. Add Montepulciano on the doorstep, plus the promise of wine, wellness and very good food all under one address, and this becomes a seriously hard place to leave.
