There is something wonderfully unforced about
VALDONICA WINERY Fine Dine & Wine Hotel. High in the hills of Maremma, with views stretching from rolling Tuscan countryside to the glittering Mediterranean, it combines organic vineyards, striking design and a very personal sense of place. The estate spans 14 hectares of vines planted in virgin soil, with a focus on reviving old Tuscan grape varieties rather than simply following the obvious path. That alone gives the wine story real intrigue.
The stay is just as distinctive. Guest rooms are spread between the sleek cantina, charming villas and the historic Manor House Capo Pagiano, all built with organic materials and a low-energy mindset.
A detail we love is that Valdonica was never some grand commercial blueprint. Owner Martin found it while searching for a small summer house, then ended up changing his life entirely and moving there. That spirit still seems to define the place. Add nearby medieval villages, easy access to Siena and the coast, and a lineup of local restaurants open year-round, and Valdonica becomes the kind of address that feels both hidden and deeply rewarding.
