There is something especially appealing about staying on a working Stellenbosch wine farm rather than simply visiting for a tasting. Skilpadvlei Wine Farm has been in the Joubert family since 1917 and today the fourth generation still grows grapes and produces wine on the estate.

You can stay in one of the cottages beside the dam or rooms in the manor house - with vineyards, mountain views and a swimming pool just outside. Add wine tastings and a restaurant serving South African classics, and this feels like a wonderfully easy way to experience the Stellenbosch wine country properly.
