  • Vijlen Show on map
Welcome to one of the very best wine focused hotels in the Netherlands - Mooiste plek heuvelland. Tucked into Vijlen, one of the most beautiful corners of South Limburg, this spacious four-bedroom hideaway places you right in the Dutch hill country, where vineyard slopes, walking trails and postcard-pretty villages go hand in hand. The house itself is generous and practical, with a terrace, garden and enough room for up to six guests. What makes it work for wine lovers is the address... You are in South Limburg, the region that more or less kick-started modern Dutch wine, with loess soils, extra sunshine by Dutch standards and a cluster of vineyards within easy reach. It is not a classic winery hotel with tastings on your doorstep, but it is a very smart base for drinking your way through one of the Netherlands’ most exciting wine regions. Read more

  • Lemelerveld Show on map
There is something very pleasing about a place that does not overcomplicate its pitch: vineyard, room, glass, repeat. Wijnstaete sits in Dutch wine country and leans into exactly the sort of slow-paced, bottle-forward escape people increasingly come here for. The whole idea feels rooted in the rise of modern Dutch wine, which has gone from curiosity to serious niche over the past two decades, helped by warmer summers and grape varieties that thrive in northern Europe... That broader context matters, because Dutch wine is often at its best when it surprises you. A fun fact we love is that Dutch wines tend to have a naturally fresh acidity, which is one reason the country has become especially good at sparkling wine. So if you are staying somewhere called Wijnstaete, in the middle of this evolving wine scene, the smartest move is probably to lean in fully and start tasting. Read more

  • Lemiers Show on map
If any Dutch wine hotel knows its niche, it is Domein Holset BruisendWijnHuis. This one has gone all in on sparkling wine, and wisely so. Set in Lemiers in the South Limburg hills, the estate produces its own traditional-method bubbly, offers vineyard tours and tastings, and has built a whole identity around the idea that yes, the Netherlands can do serious fizz. Guests even get rooms right on the domain, with eleven unique lodgings in the middle of the vines... And honestly, South Limburg is a very good place to make that argument. Dutch wines are often naturally high in acidity, which makes them especially well suited to sparkling production, and Domein Holset has made that into its signature. Lovers of bubbly even compare the wines here to Champagne, which of course is bold talk, but part of the fun. For couples, wine nerds and anyone who likes their weekend trips with a cork-pop built in, this is one of the Netherlands’ most distinctive wine stays. Read more

  • Wognum Show on map
The lovely Wijngaard Saalhof wins you over with its quiet countryside, gourmet restaurant and organic vineyard. Located in the North Holland countryside near Wognum, the estate boasts a mix of rooms, apartments, and even standalone wine houses - all set among the vines. Which (in our opinion) immediately makes it much more memorable than a regular country hotel. What gives it extra charm is the contrast... North Holland is hardly the first place most people picture when they think of wine, which is exactly why staying here is so satisfying. You are reminded that Dutch viticulture now stretches far beyond Limburg, with vineyards popping up across the country and winemakers making the most of local soils, long summer light and a healthy dose of experimentation. Saalhof turns that into a stay that is less about ticking off a famous wine region and more about discovering something unexpected for yourself. Read more

  • Valkenburg Show on map
Staying at Dormio Wijnhotel Valkenburg is a very different sort of wine experience, and that is exactly why we love it. This is not a vineyard estate in the countryside, but a hotel entirely built around the world of wine. Located right on the edge of lively Valkenburg, and opposite the oldest railway station still in use in the Netherlands. From the start, it leans hard into its concept: wine bar, wine shop, wine restaurant and around 170 wines from Limburg, Europe and beyond... The rooms are where the idea really comes alive. Each one is decorated around a wine producer or wine theme, so no two stays are quite the same, and some even come with private wellness facilities. It is playful, a little theatrical, and much more memorable than a standard town hotel. What makes it work is the contrast. You are in South Limburg, close to rolling hills and local wine country, but with Valkenburg’s buzz, marlstone charm and easygoing atmosphere right outside. We will definitely return! Read more
