At
Massimago Wine Relais, Valpolicella comes with a little more bite, a little more beauty, and a lot more substance than usual. This is not a hotel borrowing vineyard glamour - it is a real organic wine estate, rooted in the Mezzane valley since 1883. Nowadays led by
Camilla Rossi Chauvenet, who revived the property and pushed production fully organic. Amarone, Ripasso and Valpolicella are all part of the story here, and guests can dive into tastings, cellar visits, vineyard walks and even truffle-hunting experiences that make the whole stay gloriously hard to top.
The relais itself keeps the mood intimate: just a handful of rooms and apartments inside a historic farmhouse, surrounded by the estate’s organic vineyards. Some rooms come with vineyard views, the top suite has a fireplace and sweeping estate panoramas, and outside there is a pool plus a small private spa for when all that Amarone requires a slower afternoon.
Lastly, a fun detail we love: the name Massimago is said to derive from the Latin for “maximum wellness,” which is either excellent branding or a very good omen. Either way, this is one for romantics, wine obsessives and anyone who wants Valpolicella with real estate credentials rather than just a pretty view.
