There is something rather special about staying at
La Foresteria Serego Alighieri. Not just because the estate has belonged to the direct descendants of Dante since 1353, but because the whole place carries that rare sense of continuity you cannot fake. Set in the heart of Valpolicella, this is a working wine estate where history, vineyards and hospitality all fold into one another beautifully, and where wine tours and tastings are part of the experience rather than an added extra.
We loved the atmosphere of the foresteria itself just as much. There are only eight country-style apartments, all looking out over the park and estate, which keeps the mood intimate and calm rather than hotel-like. Morning breakfast with estate-made jams only adds to the charm.
A weekend here means not simply visiting Valpolicella - you are actually staying inside one of its most storied family estates.
