If you are looking for a Veneto wine stay with actual castle walls and a direct link to Venetian nobility, then book
Castello di Roncade. Just outside Treviso, this Renaissance estate is the only pre-Palladian Venetian villa still completely enclosed by medieval walls. Its story stretches from the Doges, and architect Mauro Codussi, to the Ciani Bassetti family, who restored the property and replanted the vineyards in the early 20th century.
Today it is a real working estate with tours and tastings built into the experience. And the stay itself has wide range of both classic rooms with period furniture, and elegant renovated tower rooms, plus lofts and apartments inside the front towers for something a little more rustic.
So if you want a wine estate with historic residence and beautifully atmospheric - this place more than delivers.
