I Quattro Pozzi because it does not overplay its hand. Set in a finely restored old farmhouse in La Morra, it gives you one of the smartest setups in the Langhe: vineyard quiet, a heated infinity pool looking over the hills, and the historic centre of La Morra just a short stroll away. That combination of seclusion and proximity is rarer than it sounds.
This is not a big wine resort with every possible extra. It is more restrained than that, and all the better for it. The real luxury is being in the middle of one of Italy’s great food-and-wine landscapes, waking up in a small country house and deciding that the day’s biggest challenge is which cellar door to visit first.
