There are many reasons Brazil’s Vale dos Vinhedos belongs on a wine-lover’s map, and our stay at
Hotel Villa Michelon showed them all in one place. We spent a few days here among the Serra Gaúcha hills and loved how this family-run hotel combines vineyard views, warm hospitality and a true taste of Brazilian wine culture.
Our room opened onto neat rows of Merlot and Tannat, perfect for sunrise walks before a generous breakfast of local cheeses, breads and fruit. Afternoons meant cellar tours and pours of fruity, food-friendly reds made just steps away, followed by quiet time in the pool or gardens. Dinner in the restaurant highlighted regional dishes-think creamy polenta and slow-braised meats-paired seamlessly with estate wines.
Villa Michelon isn’t flashy; it’s welcoming, authentic and wrapped in the easygoing charm of southern Brazil. We left relaxed, well-fed and carrying a few bottles to remind us of those vine-covered hills.
