For anyone who wants the Tuscan countryside without being too far from Siena, Villa Poggio in Chianti has a lot going for it. The restored villa sits among rolling hills and olive groves, with a beautiful panoramic pool and a mix of rooms and apartments that make it equally appealing for couples and families.

What we like most is the location. Siena is within easy reach, while the surrounding countryside puts plenty of Chianti wineries on the agenda for the day. Come back for a swim as the light softens over the hills and you have a very convincing Tuscan evening.
