If wine is the main reason for coming to Tuscany, Villa il Castagno Wine & Resort ticks a lot of boxes. The adults-only estate stretches across 150 hectares outside Siena, including 44 hectares of vineyards with its own winery and olive mill right on the property.

There are just ten suites in the restored farmhouse (some even with a private spa bath), plus a large outdoor pool and a restaurant serving Tuscan food alongside the estate’s own wine and olive oil. This is exactly the kind of place we enjoy: you are not simply looking at vineyards from the bedroom window – they are genuinely part of what happens here every day.
