Set in the rolling Gavi hills,
Agriturismo Tenuta la Marchesa is a historic estate that gives us exactly what we want from a wine stay. Proper vineyard surroundings, tastings in a beautifully preserved old cellar, and the feeling that wine is part of the place’s DNA rather than a nice extra.
What we loved the most about our stay here was the atmosphere. The 16th-century villa has real character, and the rooms feel charming and relaxed rather than overly polished. If we could choose, we’d go back for the turret room in the old pigeon house for those panoramic views, then spend the afternoon by the pool with a bottle chilling nearby.
And yes, we’d absolutely stay for dinner. The restaurant serves classic Piedmont dishes with estate wines, which makes the whole experience feel deliciously complete. For us, this is the kind of place that turns a simple wine weekend into something far harder to leave.
