For anyone planning to explore the great names of the Médoc, the location of Hôtel de Margaux is hard to improve upon. It sits right at the entrance to Margaux-Cantenac, surrounded by some of Bordeaux’s most famous vineyards, with Château Margaux and Marquis d’Alesme practically on the doorstep.

This is a small, charming hotel rather than a grand wine resort, and that is exactly why we like it. Breakfast on the terrace, then a day following the Route des Châteaux through Margaux and Pauillac sounds like a pretty fantastic way to experience the Médoc.
