If ever a wine estate looked as though it had been designed to seduce from the river up, it is
Château Loudenne. With a private port on the Gironde estuary, a long tree-lined approach, and 140 hectares under organic farming, it has the kind of scale and drama that smaller Bordeaux stays simply cannot fake. We also loved the nickname: Loudenne is often referred to as the “pink château”, which already tells you this is not just another stern old Bordeaux property.
The wine part is every bit as strong as the setting. This is a full estate with its own organic production, and the visits are built to bring guests into the whole story of the place rather than just pour and wave goodbye. Between the parkland, the estuary views and the sheer theatre of arriving by the water, this is the sort of address we would choose when we want Médoc with a little more grandeur and a little more romance.
